I Don't Know If...

Blog Frame .png

I lead a small community of high schoolers. We get together once a week to talk about the stuff they are facing. I have only been leading this community for a month but I already feel like it is making a difference.

  • I don't know if they come home to hug, but with me they will.
  • I don't know if their voice is heard at school, but with me it is.
  • I don't know if they feel valued on the court, but with me they know.

To have a safe space is uncommon, it's rare for our society as we are judged by how we think, what we say, or what we don't say. What if we put these differences aside and asked ourselves, "What's the best way to make this person, right now, feel like they are safe"? I don't know if my people feel safe anywhere, but I am committed to help them feel safe with me.

Be a safe space.
