Give up Control

Help me let you go,
Help me give up control,
of the God I made you,
when my fear has contained you.
— Will Raegan

We like being in control. Knowing what's going to happen and how people are going to act is where our safety often lies.

The sad reality of it all is that we actually don't know what's going to happen or how people are going to act. This "loss of control" reality can be hard to come to terms with... so what do we do? In order to cope with the fact that we are not in control, we attempt to control even more so, try harder, do more! In the midst of coping, we shove God into a box, fortified by our own abilities and reasoning.

What if we came to terms with the fact we are not in control?

What if we let God be God?

What if God can do more than we could imagine?

Can we let go of control so we don't contain God's impact on our own lives? I guess this is called faith, stepping out into the unknown. It's an adventure, it's a risk. After clenching our fists for so long, it might feel good to release.

Rest assured, God has a plan to give you hope and a future; however, know that this promise is predicated on the fact that you let his plan play out in your own life.

He's got you.

It's okay to let go.
