Conflict occurs in every healthy relationship. Let's do more than withstand conflict but actually welcome it. I grew up believing conflict was bad. Now, after being in healthy communities, I've noticed that it's only through conflict can a relationship have depth.
Some practical questions to ask:
- Has there been any friction in our relationship lately?
- What's been frustrating you lately?
- Do you disagree?
If we stop running from conflict and run towards it, no problem can fester. Of course we don't make conflict when it's not there, we simply address when it is present.
