Welcome Change

Today was very cloudy in Ocean Beach, California. Walking through the local neighborhood towards the ocean, I felt the drizzle of the rain on my cheeks as I looked at the empty sidewalk ahead. Usually, the sun is out, shining bright glistening over the water surface, but that's not the case today. The gray coldness affects people here in OB because it is such a dramatic difference from what they're used to. If I'm going to be honest, even though I was born and raised in Maine, it's a pretty big change of climate for me as well. Please don't judge. And yes, I know, I'm spoiled.

This weather provides a different emotional human response than the sunshine does. Clouds can bring a somber, reflective disposition as the sunshine provides a positive, energizing temperament. Recently, I have rather enjoyed the clouds when they come. Instead of resisting the change, I have found that is is simply easier to appreciate the change for what it is: different.

Change is healthy as it provides the opportunity for growth. Let's not be afraid nor frustrated when change comes within our lives but embrace it as a chance for something new to be built within us.
