The Cure to Loneliness

I went to a Young Adults retreat for the last couple days. This retreat was so remote that Google Maps couldn't take us to the location. This means that we actually had to look at road signs and markers! Let's just say I'm glad I live in 2018 because the good Lord did NOT bless me with the gift of navigation.

We put our phones in our cabins and the 25 of us did different activities together in order to grow closer to God while at the same time drawing closer with one another. By the end of the 36 hours we spent, we had this innate bond, a bond where you didn't feel alone, like you are a part of something bigger than yourself kind-of bond. In our media driven world, we are more socially connected yet more emotionally distant than ever before. This breaks my heart.

So what do you do if you feel distant from everyone around you? How do you get that 'retreat' feeling on a consistent basis?

The answer:

Intentional Calendar

  1. Sit down with friends that make your feel better about yourself

  2. Make a list of things you'd like to do together

  3. Put them on the calendar

It's as easy as that. Of course, you will have to lead it, but you can do it because that's what Colorful Christians do, they facilitate community.
