How do I change?

Change is harder as we get older. We develop habits, thinking patterns and routines that make it easier for us to live life. Sadly, living a life of color requires us to not only examine our own way of life, but change it according to the live the life we want to live. I am inspired by the woman in the story below. Her body had been doing something for 12 years that was not conducive to the life she wanted to live, 12 years! She could have given up, believing, “This is the way it is always going to be”. But instead, she does this:

A woman who had hemorrhaged for twelve years slipped in from behind and lightly touched his robe. She was thinking to herself, “If I can just put a finger on his robe, I’ll get well.” Jesus turned—caught her at it. Then he reassured her: “Courage, daughter. You took a risk of faith, and now you’re well.” The woman was well from then on.

What have you been struggling with? A nasty habit? A negative way of thinking? A toxic relationship? Surely there are elements in life that we cannot change, but that doesn’t mean we don’t try to shift the elements we can. Just because your past looks a certain way doesn’t mean your future has to look the same. Even after all these years, change is possible.

What have you given up on?
