So What Now?

So what now?

I walk across the stage feeling exuberant as I hear the claps from the crowd. Finishing my bachelors degree in three years instead of four years was no joke! After the ceremony, I see my friend Micayla and we talk about how nothing is going to be the same, tears start rolling down our faces as we realize, for maybe the first time, that all things must come to an end. Taking pictures, we smile, we laugh, and we leave. Fast forward just 24 hours later and I am bored at home thinking, “Okay, so now what?”. I was confused because the feeling of accomplishment I had when I walked across that stage did not even compare to the countless emotional lows and highs of the three years leading up to it.

Perhaps happiness is always to be found in the journey uphill, and not in the fleeting sense of satisfaction awaiting at the next peak.
— 12 Rules for Life

Please hear these three universal laws:

  1. There will always be another task to check off.

  2. There will always be another peak to climb.

  3. There will never be this moment again.

If you want to live the good life, you must change your perspective:

The journey is the destination
