Lost Coin

I help create community for a job here in San Diego. Over the past 9 months I've seen those on the fringes feel isolated and alone. Conversations with people (Just got off the phone) who feel as if they are on the outside looking in have been difficult to hear. Depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts have been common occurrences within my conversations with those on the fringes.

There is this beautiful story that my favorite story teller once told. It goes like this:

Imagine a woman who has ten coins and loses one. Won’t she light a lamp and scour the house, looking in every nook and cranny until she finds it? And when she finds it you can be sure she’ll call her friends and neighbors: ‘Celebrate with me! I found my lost coin!’
— Jesus

I want to be that woman. I want to go to the edges and find the lost, find the lonely. My goal is to help those who want community get it. I hope this is more than a blog but a way of life. Sometimes it takes one phone call or an invite and sometimes it takes 9 coffee dates, but it's all worth it in the end.

I hope we all can be people who help the

excluded feel included,

help the outsiders become insiders,

help the alone feel belonging.
