Initiating is SO hard, so stop thinking that it's supposed to be easy. It sucks, let's be honest about that. Above is a picture of some of my closest friends. I initiated the get-together by texting everyone. Here are some of the fears that went through my head:
- What if I text them and they don't respond?
- What if I create an event and nobody shows up?
- What if I create a blog about it and nobody reads it?
Initiating is even harder when you do it alone. Being the only one stepping out into the unknown can lead to..well I have no idea what it well lead to, that's what makes it so dang scary!
People who live well initiate, even if their the only ones doing it. People who are community leaders initiate, regardless of anyone else cares. I'm reading a book called Love Does by Bog Goff. Love Does is all about practically loving those around you. This is what Bob says:
We all want to live a life of color but we tend to forget because we can never get over our own fear of initiating. Let me be clear, we don't live a good life accidentally, it always takes boldness, it always takes initiating, even if you're the only one.
