We need to have grounding relationships in our lives. Grounding relationships can only occur with those who know you best. Sadly, I can forget to have conversations with the people who know me best.
Why do I do this?
We all favor that new acquaintance because it's new and unpredictable. We tend to nap on long-standing relationships because it is predictable; however, that predictably creates safety. Every time I am able to speak with someone who truly understands me, I feel much more centered and content for the rest of the day. Without using words, these people can help me remember where I came from, my roots.
Today I was able to spend the whole day with my mentor and great friend as I had the opportunity to speak at a church in Temecula, California. I know my mentor and my mentor knows me so it might not be exciting when we talk, but it is almost always fulfilling. We need to make time for the people who know us the best because it centers us to what really matters.
